The day, Saturday 13th September, will include a dog show, treasure hunt, car boot sale, live music, food stalls and bar.%u00a0%u201cFor centuries the %u2018local authority%u2019 across all of what is now Milton Keynes was known as the Newport Hundreds, but for the last 40 years we%u2019ve been focused entirely on the town itself as Newport Pagnell Town Council%u201d, said Mayor Paul Day.%u201cOur community is welcoming, and we%u2019re proud that as our town has developed, we%u2019ve maintained our heritage and kept our distinct identity without being absorbed into the New Town, which grew up on our border. As Mayor, I%u2019d like to personally invite you to join us as we celebrate our milestone anniversary.%u201dSingers captured on CDLocal choir, the Newport Pagnell Singers, have recently completed a special CD recording featuring a selection of their favourite songs and festive Christmas carols. The project captures the warmth and harmony of the group, off ering a taste of their musical spirit. It will be available to buy at their Christmas concerts on Saturday 13th December (7.30pm at St Peter & St Paul%u2019s, Newport Pagnell) and Friday 19th December (7pm at St Laud%u2019s, Sherington). Following the recording, the singers will be preparing for a series of exciting concerts, beginning with their appearance at the Mayor%u2019s Concert on 2nd October, followed by their own concert on 18th October with the Calliope Flute Trio, in support of Willen Hospice. Florence Donaghy of 1st Sherington Brownies and Amelie Cousins of 2nd Olney Brownies have performed over the years. Take your own food, but the York House bar will be open for liquid refreshments. The bar opens at 4.30pm, giving you time to settle in with a drink and relax before the music begins at 5pm. Next door at the Dino and Farm Park, children can meet famous book characters such as the very hungry caterpillar and Elmer the patchwork elephant. Thames Valley Police, responsible for Olney, Newport Pagnell and Milton Keynes, were among the forces working together last month on Operation Pandilla, which aims to address serious crime and county drugs lines by making use of unique police technology and intelligence sharing across forces. Bedfordshire were also among the forces involved. The operation resulted in 85 arrests, 16 weapon seizures, 38 drug-related seizures, over %u00a321,000 in cash confi scated and 45 vehicles seized.If you notice anything suspicious, report it online or by calling 101. Guest speakers Mark and Giles from 2 Spoons made the group tea to taste and told many interesting facts. Who drinks the most tea in the world? Who grows the most tea? How many people work in the tea industry? How many years to train to become a tea taster?Answers: Turkey, China, 40 million, 5 years. The evening raised %u00a3150 for charity.50 years of G&SWolverton Gilbert & Sullivan Society are celebrating its 50th Anniversary with a concert and picnic at York House, Stony Stratford on Saturday 2nd August at 5pm.
