No reports were posted on the club%u2019s Facebook page on the opening day and since then things have moved very slowly. Naturally the weather is getting all the blame. High air pressure and heatwave temperatures are not conducive to quality fi shing, and the impact these conditions have on the rivers is also a concern.%u00a0Low river levels due to extended hot weather and little rainfall can cause low oxygen levels in the water, which obviously aff ects all aquatic life. In last month%u2019s column I asked for any photos of decent catches, and the three photos here were all of experienced anglers who know the importance of keeping their photographic matter hydrated and of getting their picture done and the fi sh back into the river as quickly as possible. The three photos show, Barney with a pristine 5lb chub, Nathan Flynn with a 10lb bag of silvers caught at our Upper Harrold section and Dylan Kemp with a good size early-season perch. Our fi rst matches are upon us. Next month, I will hopefully be reporting on the Fiesta Open and a one-off evening match. With the calibre of match fi shermen that are amongst our membership, hopes are high for quality results. Fingers crossed. Tight lines, Damon.Squad given tour around home of the codebreakersMK Dons%u2019 fi rst team and academy squad visited Bletchley Park this week, as part of celebrations following the launch of the club%u2019s iconic new away strip. This week, the club revealed its black %u2018second%u2019 strip, which features hidden letters,%u00a0 printed in the style of the wartime Enigma machine that scientists at Bletchley Park had to decipher.%u00a0Located in Milton Keynes, Bletchley Park is a world-famous heritage site that served as the wartime home of the Government Code and Cypher School (GC&CS). Its work there not only played a big part in World War Two but was also a forerunner of modern computing. As part of the Dons%u2019 shirt launch, and to learn more about Milton Keynes%u2019 relationship with Bletchley and its history, the fi rst team plus members of the club%u2019s academy were given a guided tour around the Bletchley Park site by military historian Dr David Kenyon. They were shown the main house, garaging, the cottages, along with the huts and blocks that were built later as the war dragged on. Team members were invited to watch a fi lm about the D-Day landings and were shown some of the famous codebreaking equipment used by mathematician Alan Turing and his codebreaking colleagues. The idea for the new away shirt was devised jointly between MK Dons and Bletchley Park and was designed in collaboration with sportswear giant Reebok.%u00a0%u201cThe famous aspect of the Enigma machine is the key design, and having it on the team shirt is fantastic,%u201d said Dr Kenyon. The shirt is available to buy now from the club shop, priced at %u00a355 (Juniors %u00a340).
