Hugh Reid led everyone superbly through the most wonderful and enchanting Thanksgiving Civic Service I have had the privilege of attending and being part of.Listening to the children singing %u2018Amazing Grace%u2019 was a joy to behold. Every single pupil who stood up and sang their hearts out should be very very proud indeed of what they achieved (they had learnt the lyrics to this famous hymn and stood at the front of the Church performing to a packed congregation). Two older students from Ousedale played a big part in proceedings, who supported and worked with the children, bringing enthusiasm throughout rehearsals and at the service, who conducted and played piano are Thomas Wakeley and Georgia Haydon. Also, congratulations and praise go to Scarlett Deacon, student at Ousedale, who won the poetry competition with her poem %u2018 Olney%u2019s Legacy%u2019, which she read so eloquently at the service.Amongst the hymns, there was one that stood out: %u2018Seven Hundred Years%u2019, which had been written especially for the 700th anniversary of the Church with words by Bethany Heron. And Tune: Septenary, by Jonathan Heron. Such exceptional talent, a truly beautiful piece. On liaising with teaching staff at each of our Olney schools (Sophie Darling OIA, Rachel Harper OMS and Claire Tiernay Ousedale ) three fantastic teachers who from the moment of being asked to be part of this special event, they all expressed the same to me %u2013 that they were extremely honoured and proud for the children at their school to have been asked to be part of this momentous occasion. From Olney Infants: Charlie Swan, their art lead, organised the artwork themes for all 240+ children in OIA and even stood on ladders to hang it in the Church on a sweltering Friday evening! Gill Hardy, their music lead, came to support the choir, and the head teacher, Sarah Armitage, came to sing with them too! From Olney Middle: Art teacher Sarah Lowe, who worked with most of the 350 children at OMS to produce their stunning artwork, some of which was based on the fabulous photos taken by the Ousedale pupils for their postcards.Heather Lamble (Deputy Head) helped Rachel organise the work on display at the Church, and Richard Bosworth (Head teacher) was on hand in the Church on Sunday to help Rachel organise the children. From Ousedale: Catherine Whitworth is their lovely English teacher who did the poetry competition.Ruby Satchell, their lovely art teacher, who had Wayne Warren (artist) in for the day to do sculptures with the pupils and ran the postcard and photography. The Olney year 7s wrote on the back of the postcards, and Natalie Binney was helpful in every possible way!%u00a0They informed me it was the fi rst time since Covid that they had worked together, all three schools combined, on a project, and I am sure this will be the fi rst of many more.Well done and huge praise to all the children involved, you certainly did yourselves proud, your school proud and Olney proud.%u201dThomas Wakeley and Georgia HaydonScarlett Deacon, a student from OusedaleWhat will you leave behind?Call us to discuss making your WillTel: 01234 713 938 Web: www.orchardwills.co.ukOrchard Wills, Unit 2, Stanley Court, Olney, Bucks, MK46 5NHSingle Will from %u00a3120 %u2022 Mirror Wills from %u00a3180
