From the optimistic early weeks of the New Year we were all rocked to the core with the sad passing of Paul Alexander, our treasurer and long serving presenter in February. It was therefore unfortunate that Paul did not get to experience CRMK%u2019s thirty seconds of TV fame.It was in February that we were contacted by ITV News for no apparent reason although later, we would deduce from the TV report footage, that it was all about the fact that we had repurposed a derelict public convenience into an internet radio station %u2013 albeit 8 years late! At the appointed time a cameraman arrived but there was no sign of the reporter expected who it turns out, was redirected to a more %u2018pressing%u2019 event in Cambridgeshire involving a train and someone taking pot shots at it with an airgun. The cameraman though was more than amiable and after a preamble regarding CRMK he mapped out what was to happen. In the fi rst instance there would be external shots taken of the studio before we ventured inside where Louise James was live on air. Internal shots were taken and then, when the music was playing, Kevin was interviewed under guidance by the cameraman as to what was to be said. The cameraman was at the studio for around an hour before he departed for Norwich for another report and with it, the whole experience was over apart from the actual news report to come. It was a slightly nerve-racking experience if truth be known. That said, it was an interesting all-round experience though topped off with those thirty seconds or so on TV. On refl ection it is only natural to wish that you had said something diff erent but with directed questions it is not that easy particularly when the ITV news team did the editing. Since that day in February, new presenters have come on board although one left us recently after 8 years. On the whole, being a presenter is a transitory %u2018hobby%u2019 although some last a decade or two and some never give it up. Work and time can take their toll and then there is the possibility that this particular hobby has run its course. For others it may be a lack of listeners that causes them to leave. No matter what the reason, it is hoped that the presenters concerned have ultimately enjoyed themselves. So, let%u2019s welcome CRMK %u2018newbies%u2019 Zlata, James, Nigel, Matt and Ashley to CRMK and hope they enjoy the experience.Whilst we are in a position to do so, CRMK can and will provide facilities for anyone to embark on a presenting experience regardless of how long they may stay and, as in the news report, %u201cit is perhaps something that everyone should put on their bucket list%u201d. Who knows, it may even lead to more than thirty seconds of fame!www.crmk.co.ukThirty Seconds of TV Fame?CRMK RADIO
