And you don%u2019t have to worry about being a great singer.Singing for the Brain brings people aff ected by dementia together to sing a variety of songs they know and love, in a fun and friendly environment. Facilitated by the Alzheimer%u2019s Society, the welcoming group also do vocal exercises that help improve brain activity and well-being. There is no requirement to be a good singer to take part and benefi t.The group was formed in 2014 and met virtually during the Covid pandemic, providing a vital link during this period. Face-to-face sessions started up again in 2023 and the group has been growing steadily since then.There are many reasons to consider joining in and taking part, including: %u2022 doing fun vocal warm-ups and singing a wide variety of familiar  and new songs %u2022 expressing yourself, feeling positive and making new friends %u2022 connecting with others and improving your well-being %u2022 feeling supported by skilled, compassionate and experienced  staff and volunteers who are available to support you with  anything you needThe group says that 100% of people who go along to Singing for the Brain sessions say they%u2019ve improved their life in some way.%u201cI love Singing for the Brain, which I call singing for the soul,%u201d says one attendee. %u201cThe group lets me meet other people with dementia, which makes me feel that I am not so diff erent after all.%u201dAlzheimer%u2019s Society off ers a range of dementia support services %u2013 visit their website:alzheimers.org.uk for more information.Singing for the Brain is held at Heron%u2019s Lodge Guide Centre, Loughton Lodge, Milton Keynes on the fi rst and third Monday of each month with both a morning and afternoon session available.
