Webster has some reservations about the job, but his boss, Hammer, obviously likes Qazai and is keen for the fi rm to accept the commission. Webster discovers that Qazai is suspected of smuggling an ancient treasure, initially stolen by Mehr, which is why the sale was cancelled.It subsequently transpires that both Webster and Hammer were invited to the funeral, described in the opening chapter, by Qazai, who spoke eloquently about Mehr, the deceased. It is while he is there that he receives a phone call informing him that Qazai%u2019s son has been kidnapped.The plot becomes more and more convoluted, with Webster%u2019s initial suspicion that Qazai is a fraud being confi rmed. However, the complicated web of deceit and lies does not, in fact, centre on him but on his associates, and the discoveries which Webster makes put him and his own family at risk, as well as testing his relationship with his partner.This is an exciting novel with many twists and turns to hold the reader%u2019s interest.
