With the help and support of local businesses, sports clubs and volunteers from Olney and Lavendon, we have been able to raise more than %u00a317,500 this year. This is a great result and demonstrates a true commitment to the welfare of the %u201cforces family%u201d. I must make special mention of three key individuals and organisations whose contributions contributed in a major way to the collection total:%u2022 The management and staff of our local Sainsbury%u2019s store for their kindness in hosting our main collection point%u2022 Olney Rugby Football Club%u2019s past players for their major contribution%u2022 Our Mayor, Debbie Whitworth, for her daily presence collecting in the Market PlaceI would also like to thank everyone who came to the Market Place to join in the act of Remembrance on November 10th. There are many individual eff orts that contribute to this annual event, and it was good to see it all come together on the day. Olney now attracts many visitors from out of town to this event, a testament to our ability to %u201cget the balance just right%u201d for veterans in particular.The Royal British Legion Branch in Olney has seen a declining membership in the last few years. We are keen to recruit new members and volunteers to join us. We meet several times a year (details in the Phonebox) and there are always opportunities to help in the work of the Branch in fundraising and fellowship.
