A ‘new Leaf’
New Leaf of olney was recently the coffee shop stop of choice for the new Nissan Leaf and the Chillisauce event management agency. Café Rosco supplied both coffee and buns and journalists and photographers were encouraged to take a look around the new electric car.
award-winning event Management agency, Chillisauce, was commissioned by Nissan to launch their new Leaf model – the first affordable, purpose-designed 100% electric vehicle from a major manufacturer.
Rather than employing the usual ‘tried and tested’ car launch model, Chillisauce devised a unique, creative approach, crafting the concept of ‘The Leaf Clinic’ for Nissan.
william Bicknell, Commercial Director at Chillisauce comments:
“when we set up Chillisauce we were dedicated to one ideal – doing things differently. Recreating the status quo isn’t memorable yet the types of products we bring to market for clients, are. a ground-breaking vehicle demands an equally ground-breaking launch. Same-same doesn’t do.”
on arrival Journalists from motoring, technology and environmental sectors were warmly welcomed by none other than Dr Nessan and his helpful Nissan Nurses. Inside the clinic Journalists were challenged on their assumptions of petrol-dependency and through the process of education, treated for their costly ‘petrol addiction’.
once Nissan’s Neesan gave them the all-clear Journalists were delighted by doors sliding back to reveal an f1-style garage. Guests were invited to drive the Leaf around an indoor circuit through Milton Keynes thecentre:mk’s shopping mall, all the while the retail-happy public looked on.
“Test-driving cars through the open corridors of the thecentre:mk was a pretty surreal experience for both

Olney Town Cricket Club
wITh whaT haS been near perfect weather in March and early april, it already feels like the cricket season should have started. Not long now though, with our first adult game taking place on Sunday 24th april, and our first adult home game being on Saturday 30th april. our junior fixtures also kick off with a vengeance in the last week in april.
we have a full programme of adult matches on both Saturdays and Sundays, through to early September. we will be running four adult sides at the weekends for the first time in a few years following the launch of our new Sunday Development Team. we want this side to provide even more opportunities for our junior players to bridge the gap to adult cricket. Dave hurley will captain this side in its six inaugural friendly fixtures.
we will be fielding six junior sides in 2011 – four in the Buckinghamshire League, one in the Shires League and one in the hair Moda league. we had a successful Junior Registration evening on 11th april. however, it’s not too late to join if you couldn’t make it. You can contact Dave hurley, our head of
junior cricket, or failing this, just contact our Chairman, David harrison on dvdharrison@aol.com.
adults outdoor nets sessions down at the Pavilion will be on Tuesday evenings, and new players are always welcome. Junior training sessions are held at various times during the week and details can be found on the Club webs-site. The Club will be supporting around 70 junior games, home and away during the season. If you’re keen, you can follow each team’s results and even individual batting and bowling performances on the Club’s new web site at www.olneytown.play-cricket.com. we have also created a Club facebook site and you can find this at www.facebook.com/olneytowncc.
we have being doing some improvements to the interior of the Pavilion in the pre-season to address some “wear and tear” we’ve suffered over the years. If you’re down there, you should see improvements to the bar and kitchen and the changing rooms. The bar will be open for business from the last week of
april and we’ll be open most weeknights and at the weekends – so, if you see cricket being played, the bar is likely to be open.
we’ve had a really good response from our sponsors for the coming season, so a big thank you to all that have contributed, especially in these grim financial times. and we’d like to extend a special thank you to our main sponsor, harvey Ingram Borneos, which is supporting the Club for a 2nd consecutive year.
we will have a full calendar of social events in 2011. This will start with our pre-season get together which will take place down at the Pavilion on Thursday 28th April, so we’re all well prepared for the Royal wedding on the friday..(Note this is a change of date from last month’s announcement) another key date for the diary is Friday 12th August. on this evening, at the Carlton Club, local band, Mad Mods and Englishman, have agreed to play an evening in celebration of the life of Mike Lord, who we recently lost. Tickets will cost £6 and will be on sale at Stephen oakley estate agents, Ta Bennett & Sons, the Carlton Club and at the Cricket Club.
host the event not only to provide a point of difference but also because of Milton Keynes’ electric Vehicle Recharging Infrastructure and commitment to the Plugged in Places Scheme”. Bicknell adds.
