They also knitted 25 premature baby sets each consisting of hat, jacket, blanket and two bonding squares. Recently they were pleased to welcome to church one of the trustees from Emily%u2019s Star to hand them over for distribution to Milton Keynes University Hospital and John Radcliff e neonatal units. Art competition for summerA local art centre has announced the launch of its Summer Open 2026, a major new exhibition celebrating the best of contemporary art. Taking place from next June, the Yardley Arts exhibition invites artists from across the UK to submit works for selection by a panel of respected art professionals. Now in its ninth year, Yardley Arts has become News Round Upa vibrant hub in Yardley Hastings, where creativity, community and culture meet. Its Summer Open marks an exciting new chapter. The exhibition will open with a special Awards Reception, shining a spotlight on creativity and innovation in the region. Opening date is 12th February. As part of the exhibition, the hub will also take part in the popular Yardley Hastings Open Gardens event on Sunday 28th June, featuring artists working in participating gardens.Blood testing clinicA Sherington clinic is hosting a prostate cancer blood testing event in March, open to men in Milton Keynes and surrounding villages. The Hair and Skin Clinic, of Mercer%u2019s Manor Barns in the village, is hosting MK Prostate Cancer Support for the event, in which clinicians from the Graham Fulford Charitable Trust will carry out the testing.Milton Keynes%u2019 Medical Detection Dogs charity will also be present to demonstrate what they do from a special stall.%u201cWith all the publicity currently surrounding prostate health, this public event is more important than ever,%u201d said a clinic spokesperson. %u201cWe had 210 men attend last year, and this year we%u2019re already expecting around 300.%u201dNeil BeetonPhonebox Magazine is sad to report the death of Neil Beeton. The popular MKGU Rotary president and treasurer of Newport Pagnell Probus Club died at home aged 87. The former holiday property and video hire business owner was an active Rotarian in the area. Phonebox sends its condolences to Neil%u2019s family.Melina and Daniel are WedOlney Revival Rooms business owner Melina Neocleous celebrated a winter wedding-to-remember, when she married Daniel Campbell in an intimate ceremony in London, on 4th December 2025. The couple kept things personal exchanging vows in Marylebone before decamping to a raucous reception aboard a houseboat on the Thames. As the city lights shimmered on the water, the evening quickly turned into a full-throttle celebration, with laughter, music and plenty of spirited Cypriot dancing carrying the newlyweds and their guests late into the night.
