20 Phonebox Magazine | May 2025Castle Theatre celebrates 30th BirthdayTheatre holds special exhibition to refl ect on 30 years of entertaining audiences. The popular entertainment centre in Wellingborough opened its doors three decades ago on the site of the town%u2019s former cattle market and operated as a community theatre, opening with a local production of %u2018Annie%u2019. %u201cWe are now coming full circle with the community at the heart of this celebration,%u201d said the theatre%u2019s Luke White. %u201cIn homage to our humble beginnings, we are putting on our very own version of Annie, a part professional, part community project, generously sponsored by North Northamptonshire Council, through Discover Northamptonshire, and proceedings are in full swing.%u201dIn conjunction with the Annie production, the theatre is displaying an exhibition until Saturday, 31st May, to celebrate its %u2018timeline%u2019 and look back on the history of the venue, from its conception all the way through to recent accomplishments.The exhibition includes a plethora of memorabilia from the public who have donated items from the past from community projects to plans of the building and the famous faces who have visited the venue. It includes memorabilia and Parkwood%u2019s take over, recalling the %u2018Save The Castle campaign%u2019 and the public backing. Castle Theatre%u2019s celebration exhibition will be open to the public for free and can be accessed via the Box Offi ce, opening hours 10am-3pm.
