                                    6 Phonebox Magazine | February 2025Olney Town Council reached out to MKCC following the fl oods last year for support in setting up a fl ood group for the town and have been actively pursuing this, and after a presentation from the fl ood and water management offi cers to the Mayor and Town Clerk, advised that the fl ood group should be community-led.In Olney, even if currently not greatly impacted, there is a need to be prepared and ready to take the most appropriate action. We aim to create Building resilience against fl oodingDue to the likelihood of increased fl ood risk, several local areas are forming fl ood resilience teams.a fl ood resilience plan and secure the resources to deliver against it. Based on successes throughout the country and advice from MKCC, the aim is for the initiative to be community-led. At this early stage, the project team will be looking at the initial plan and the potential to gain funding. With that in mind, we need a group of volunteers to build and execute the plan %u2013 with help and support from the Town Council and MK Council. What we have in Olney is a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise in land management from farmers and local landowners. This added to the strong sense of community within the town, means we can protect the vulnerable and, like our local Scout Group %u2013 %u2018Be prepared%u2019.Keep a watch for communications, mainly on the Facebook Notice Board and future articles in Phonebox Magazine.
