Festival of Transport
Well what a lovely summer we have had this year and as I am writing this, it is wonderful in early September. Shame then that this year’s Festival of Transport weekend had some ‘inclement’(!) weather at the late May bank holiday, and partly because of this we are changing our weekend next year. The event will be on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st May 2015, a week after the Bank Holiday. It also suits some of our exhibitors too, and we’re hoping for an even bigger turnout with less events to clash with. The event is at the same location of Whites Nurseries, just off junction 10 of the A45 at Earls Barton.
The format will be the same, with two shows for the one admission price, Festival of Transport showing all types of vehicles through the ages and the Fire and Rescue Show running alongside it. We have had to increase our prices for the public to £6 for adults, £4 for OAPs and children, but have held the family ticket at £15.
Vehicle exhibit, trade and craft entry forms are all available at www.festivaloftransport.net and our email address is enquiries@festivaloftransport.net
Planning is in the early stages and we look forward to hearing from anyone who would like to enter, or have a stand. We can be contacted on 01604 811633. Mick and Hazel Higham

Cycling on the Footway
Following numerous complaints being received about cycling on the pavements in the centre of Newport Pagnell, particularly in the High Street, the local policing team will be looking to enforce the following legislation when appropriate.
Cycling on the footway (pavement) is an offence under Section 72 of the Highways Act 1835 as amended by Section 85 (1) of the Local Government Act 1888, and this carries a fixed penalty fine of £50.
Sgt Paulden from Newport Pagnell has gone on record as saying ‘We will adopt a common sense approach to this issue. Clearly we do not expect young children to cycle on the roads. However, those aged 16 and above who do, will potentially put themselves at risk of prosecution.
Newport Pagnell has a highly visible and committed team of officers, and they, along with the CCTV system in place, will be used to enforce this issue.”
90th Birthday Celebrations
Mrs Betty Barwick would like to thank all friends and family for attending her 90th Birthday Tea at The Carlton House Club. Thanks also for the generous donations for the Air Ambulance and Friends of Cobbs Garden. The raised total amount was £350 (£175 each). We hope that you all enjoyed yourselves. Special thanks to the staff at The Carlton House Club and Diana and Lesley.
