Councillor Corner by Cllr Paul Alexander Disposing of Rubble on the side of the Road This situation of hard core being dumped on the side of the road in Newport Pagnell was witnessed by a member of the Focus Team and has been reported to Milton Keynes Council. This practice is unacceptable and needs to be stopped as soon as possible for the benefit of Newport Pagnell residents. Christmas Lights In addition to the parade on Sunday 10th November, the Christmas Lights Volunteers were very visual with their bright yellow jackets. They were working hard before and after the Parade erecting the flags and lights ready for the annual switch-on which took place on Saturday the 30th November. To erect lights at a height needs sophisticated high level equipment to comply with Health and Safety requirements. We thank the Newport Pagnell Christmas Lights team for doing such a fantastic job to provide enjoyment for the residents and visitors of the town. Station Road Resur ced Work was started on the long expected resurfacing of Station Road Newport Pagnell on 1 5th October. This was a road in pa icularly bad state of repair and it was considered that to re-surface the road was essential. When the top was removed the weather was variable but it was dry enough for work to proceed. The next day the contractors were able to lay the finishing layer and leave Station Road with a good flat finish. This is part of an on-going scheme to resurface many of the roads in the Borough of Milton Keynes. Remembrance Sunday 10th November On Sunday 1 0th November there was a superb parade of organisations linked with the Remembrance. There were groups from The Army, The Royal British Legion, a local Brass Band, Naval Personnel, Air Force Cadets and Children to name but a few. plus a parade of Royal British Legion ex-service people riding motor tricycles - an interesting concept The Town was extremely full with a huge number of locals and visitors congregating by the War Memorial for the 2 minutes silence to remember the dead many wars including World War I & II Newport Pagnell Focus Team The Newport Pagnell Focus Team are the Ward Councillors along with supporters. We actively report problems in the area and endeavour to get them fixed as quickly as possible. Pot holes are a major consideration. If they are repaired quickly and efficiently great benefit is provided to the local people An example of a local resident commenting to me on the weeds in the gutters in Chicheley Street and Highfield Close. I reported this situation to Milton Keynes Council and very quickly members of the Environmental Team were able to remove the weeds and make the look of the roads more acceptable.
