Olney Tennis Club
Olney boys win National Tournaments
Two of Olney’s rising stars Jacob Parsons and Tom Ramsden both won LTA grade5 tournaments at U9 and U14 recently. Both the boys played some exceptional tennis. Jacob prevailed against another Olney player Andrew Brewster in the U9’s and it was another all Olney affair in the U14’s when Tom beat Patrick McGovern
Successful Junior Presentation Evening
This popular annual event was held at the Olney Centre and presentations were kindly made to a large number of Juniors by Andrew Petherick, Chair of MK Tennis. The evening reflected both the club’s most successful Junior year and also the huge enthusiasm in the town for the game.

Adult Winter Teams
The Mixed A team drew a tough match in Div One with Stony Stratford. Junior Daniel Cornwell joined up with Nigel Willard and Eleanor Carter played with Katie Bennett (see photos). At half time we were 1-3 down but won 3 of the last 4 sets in the second half to secure a point. The Mixed B came up against the league leaders Winslow and had to endure hard conditions on a cold night.
Despite the efforts of Sarah Wilkinson, Junior Jenny Coles, Ted Barnes and Chris Wright, the team lost heavily. Olney C is currently in second place so hopeful of promotion.
Box Leagues
We launched Mens, Ladies and Mixed Box Singles Leagues in January and there has been good interest. If you would like to join, contact Nigel.
Schools Tennis
As part of the club’s aim to take tennis into the community, we are arranging sessions in nearly all junior and middle schools in the area, aiming at the Under 8’s. The club is paying for the coaching time and we hope that many will enjoy trying tennis and perhaps some future starts will be unearthed!

At the AGM in December, we welcomed Andrew Barr in the new role as Vice Chairman, Ann Ball as Membership Secretary, Craig Mackellar as Match Secretary and Liz Brewster as Secretary. The club offers many thanks to retiring Committee members Eleanor Carter, Ruth Ayling and Phil and Katie Bennett for their great work for the club.
