Dear Editor
In response to the letter published in last month’s Phonebox from the
“disappointed allotment holder and responsible citizen of Olney”, I would
request that they contact me directly to discuss what actually happened
on the 15th January, as an anonymous public communication
serves absolutely no purpose.
My contact details are on our website at www.olneytowncoltsfc.co.uk and are usually listed in the ‘Useful Contacts’ section of the Phonebox.
I take a great deal of pride in how Olney Town Colts FC operates, and the players, managers, coaches and parents who support our 21 teams (of over 280 players) are a credit to the club and our Town.
We regularly suffer from the mindless vandalism referred to, ranging from £000’s of damage to newly installed goal posts through to razor blades being embedded in the pitch (police and forensics were involved).
I could write pages detailing the club ethos and the strict guidelines we adhere to (I will spare everyone that treat), but if the “disappointed allotment holder” would like to meet myself and the ‘accused’ coach, we will happily explain how we seek to offer sport for all in a fun, safe and respectful environment, but we would also like to hear their suggestions on how we can improve, as after everything is said, nobody is perfect!

Chairman, Olney Town Colts FC

Charity Collection Bags
Please make your readers aware that we have a low life element going round taking collection bags! This happened to me last week, I put some bags out for the Air Ambulance. I did see a woman pick up the bags but not initially the vehicle being used, as it passed it happened to be an estate car (rear windows darkened out) I could not check this with the office as they do not open till 9am. I was told this was not their method of collection as it is always a van, and was unable to give them a registration number of the vehicle involved. If your readers see this going on and get the vehicle number perhaps the police might be interested, as this is theft from the charities. And not for the reason I put the bags out.
Yours sincerely

Cobbs Garden Surgery – Specialist nurse for the Elderly
I am writing this letter on behalf of the Cobbs Garden Surgery Patients Participation Group and, of course, Olney’s Elderly Residents. I would like to express, through the Phonebox, our gratitude, once again to Olney Town Council for the financial support they have agreed to provide to enable us to retain the services of the Specialist Nurse for the elderly at Cobbs Garden Surgery for the forthcoming financial year. This will help our Surgery in continuing to provide the specialist care that so many of our elderly residents need and deserve.
Yours sincerely
Liz Wogan
Chair, Cobbs Garden Surgery Patients Participation Group
