OLNEY RUGBY FOOTBALL CLUB
OLNEY RUGBY CLUB had another successful Annual Dinner with guest speaker Tim Stimpson (Ex-England/Leicester Tigers full back) with awards being made to James Hawken for Player of the Year, Cameron Byrne for Young Player of the Year and George Johnson was awarded Colt of the Year at the Colts Dinner. Olney's First XV Captain, Chris Parnham and Mark Marwood represented East Midlands in the three county fixtures with Chris being awarded man of the match in the last fixture which was held on Doffs Field, Olney.
Senior Pre-Season training begins on Tuesday 5th July at 7pm, under new Head Club Coach Pat Jerram with Ross Stewart continuing in coaching position also. New players are always welcome at Olney in all sections of the club, Men/Ladies/Colts, see the website for relevant captains/contacts www.olneyrfc.co.uk and with the Mini and Juniors section taking new players from U6s (school year 1) right up to U16s, with their season commencing on Sunday 4th September. Saturday 9th July will be the fifth consecutive year of Olney 7's and this year promises to be even bigger with two tournaments holding twenty teams in each, with a high standard of rugby being played in the main 'Data-Re Tournament', and the 'Hopping Mad Tournament' for the more social teams. There will be refreshments and entertainment for all the family, with the event continuing into the evening with a live band and pig roast.
