Olney charity shop’s Fashion Show frenzy
raises £1,500 for street children in the
Philippines
A deTeRMiNed TeAM of staff and volunteers from Olney’s high street charity shop, Mercy in Action, pulled out all the stops on Saturday night at the Olney Rugby Club
where they held an impressive Brighton Pier themed fashion show to raise money for the charity. Guests were treated to complimentary snacks as they watched designer
and vintage gear that had been donated to the charity shop being modelled by local supporters of all ages. Models strutted their stuff
amidst buckets and spades, fake ice creams, bunting, sails and even the odd seagull, whilst sporting outfits that
reflected the four themed walks that included Sandy shores; Retro summer; Arcade
flashes and Fish and Chip supper. Guests enjoyed an entertaining evening and were delighted to be able to snap up a bargain
at the end of the show, with all proceeds going towards the charity Mercy in Action
that works with street children and families
affected by extreme poverty in the Philippines. The
evening was an all-round success as a fantastic £1,500 was raised. Not content to rest on
their success, Mercy in Action’s charity shop team are planning
another fashion show for later this year.
Mercy in Action now has several charity shops located on the high streets of Olney, Bedford, Newport Pagnell and Winslow and lots
more in Bath, they are always looking out for good quality donations and volunteers to help in their busy shops.

A Brrrrr...illiant Rose Court Summer Charity Fashion raises over £1300
26th May turned out to be a lot chillier than expected; but in true Olney spirit over 150
guests braved the wind and turned up to support the
open air Rose Court Summer Charity Fashion
Show staged by Wardrobe, Bex and at
Ruby’s Lingerie, Lily T and The House Gallery.
Rose Court swayed to the live music
provided by ABBA Sensation (squint
and they really did look like the real
deal!!) and much by way of hot beverage
was served by The Courtyard Brasserie.
The greatest applause of all was deservedly
directed at the models who showcased beautiful
summer outfits, lingerie and shoes.. A really big
thank you to all who supported the event and
helped us raise this money to help the work carried out by The Willen Hospice and The National Kidney Federation. A balmy hot evening has been booked for next year’s event!
