Ihave to say that July is definitely my favourite month of the year for local entertainment
and for me, it’s all about Newport Pagnell. I’ve been a resident for nearly 3 years now and I’m pleased to say that the town will be offering a trio of treats in the form of the Carnival, Soap Box Derby and the return of Parklife! I’m sure there will be a great turnout as always.
I’m told Booze on the Ouse in Olney was brilliant, make sure
you check the photos out in this edition as you never know there might be a photo of you in here. I haven’t seen all of them yet but I reckon something was wrong with the camera because everyone seems to be standing at a bizzare angle. Anyway please keep supporting your local community. This month I’m calling on the good people of Newport Pagnell but it’s the same rules for all of our towns and villages.
The anticipation continues to build as we edge ever closer to the final preparations being made for this years Soapbox Derby which takes place on Silver Street. This year the event will be sponsored by Newport Pagnell Food Box. Last years runner up Neil Whitford has obviously been inspired and has kindly offered to help out where he can. This itself is one reason to be nice to him, the other being that you may face the wrath of one his banana skin assaults should you cross the wrong side of him. Seriously though thanks Neil this is what community support is all about. I’ve spoken to co organiser Nick Walduck and we look to be on course for another morning of fun. Please come down and support this event and hopefully we can build on last years success.

The 2011 Newport Pagnell carnival is nearly here and this year the theme is music legends which I’m sure will inspire all participants into making the huge efforts that they habitually put into the event. The parade will start as always in Blakelands at midday and will arrive at Riverside Meadows at around 1pm with around 20 floats confirmed so far.
The car parade will boast an abundance of new and old classics as well as some of the more quirky modes of transport, I’m reliably informed that we can expect over 80 vehicles this year. The Tickford owners club will also be holding their national event at the carnival too.
This year in the Main Arena the leading attraction will be the Devils Horsemen display team (yes you got it a display team on horses). The display will be part of a wild west theme with the first show being at 14.30pm involving trick horse riding. The second show at 16.00pm will involve a shoot out with a stagecoach (not the local bus company) which I’m sure will prove to be very exciting and definitely one for the families. The fairground will be set up in the Riverside field with plenty to keep the kids and youthful adults amongst us entertained.
Music on Sunday Midday to 7pm
Strongly recommended is a return to Riverside meadow on Sunday with bands such as Legion, Seven Caves, Lionsex and Jenson already booked and confirmed. Entry is free but there will be buckets going around for donations.
