Small School... BIG Achievements! News from Emberton School
AS ANOTHER SCHOOL year draws to a close we have been very busy as usual! Our Busy Bee café was a huge success with a packed playground of prospective parents being diligently waited upon by the school children and enjoying delicious homemade cakes whilst their children played and got a taste of “big school”. We also raised an impressive £95 so a very big thanks to all the parents who supported this event.
Thank you also to everyone who was a
seller or buyer at our annual FOES Car Boot
Sale on 5th June, we had a good turnout
and raised £200 for school funds.
Our theme for the past weeks has been
Africa/Ghana and the children were thrilled to take part in an African Drumming workshop provided by Emily Forrester of MK Music Service. The rhythmic chanting, singing, clapping and of course drumming could be heard throughout the village! Arts1 Drama arranged a theatrical workshop based on Africa; and then the children were thrilled to participate in our “Know Ghana Day” led by Joan Dejan which promised a taste of music, dance, food, costumes, crafts and activities galore, more on this next time! Our summer term finishes with an exciting adventure to visit the wild animals of Africa and Asia at Whipsnade Zoo, kindly funded by FOES.
The term ends with our traditional Leavers’ Assembly and we bid a fond farewell to our Year 2 children and wish them well in their new adventure at middle school. However we are looking ahead with great enthusiasm to a new school year and to welcoming our new Foundation children in September.
If you would like your child to attend a rural school with small class sizes, we still have a few places available for September 2011. Contact us on 01234 711518 and we would be delighted to show you around.
