The First XV have had a promising start to the 2010/11 season, and as this goes to press are sitting fourth in the league after eight victories and three losses to date. The Seconds and Third teams have had mixed results but continue to field teams most Saturdays, as do the Occasionals who had the luxury of ex-England International, Will Greenwood playing a couple of fixtures.
With the Winter weather hampering a couple of fixtures and affecting training, there was no surprise that the ‘old favourites’ plus a ‘few new faces’ this year, joined forces to create yet again another memorable ‘Olney Rugby Club Christmas Pantomime’ with the main story line based around Little Red Riding Hood. As always a massive thank you must go out to all involved, as with everything at the Rugby Club it is run on a voluntary
basis and is much enjoyed by both young and old.
As 2011 commences and you contemplate New Year resolutions, why not give Rugby a try? New players are always welcome, of all ages, sex and ability.
Training times are; 7pm -Tues & Thurs evenings for Men, 7pm -Wed eves for ladies.
Contact Mark Lay, the Chairman of the Playing Committee on 07974173477 or Paul Dowsett, First XV Manager on 07761357431 or come down and meet the players anytime.
Social members are always welcome, and the players appreciate any support at both home and away games. So start the New Year with a new you...give Rugby a Try! See the website for fixtures and events; www.olneyrfc.co.uk
£204,000 Recovered for
Workers in Last Year
Expert offers Tips on Choosing the Right Agency
An annual report issued by the Employment Agency Standards (EAS) Inspectorate last week announced that the number of complaints they have received over the past year has risen by 9%. Complaints made during 2009-10 amounted to 1,714. Between 2009 and 2010 the EAS recovered £204,000 for workers, up on the £63,341 recovered during 2008-09. There are 2.25 million people currently unemployed in the UK, most of which are registered with Recruitment Agencies. With so many around, how can you know that the agency you are using is the right one for you? Expert Recruiter Michelle Jackson Rowe gives her Top 4 Tips to help you find the right agency:
• Check that the agency itself or their consultants are regulated by either the REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation) or the IRP (Institute of Recruitment Professionals)
• How can an agency find you work if they’ve not spoken to you? Make sure a qualified consultant talks to you and actually looks at your CV before they register you. The right agency will also be able to talk to you about your CV and give you interview tips.
• Choose an agency that will be honest with you. A good agency will know the local job market and how you can fit into it. The right agency will tell you honestly, if they don’t have anything for you and what they are doing to find a role for you.
• As you go along, it’s important that the agency has all the right documents in place. When you register you should be asked to sign their “Terms of Engagement” which will tell you your rights and give you details of the service they expect to be able to offer you.
