Pancake Day March 8th 2011
Yes, I am afraid it is that time of year again, and this is an early call for runners in this year’s shrove Tuesday Pancake Race on march 8th at 11.55am. entry forms for ladies over 18 years of age and who have lived in Olney for at least three months will be available from the Nat West Bank from the middle of January.
Preparation are well in hand for another big Olney Day. mike Hughes, our mayor, and his wife susan, will be travelling to Liberal to represent Olney there and join in their celebrations. Our race sponsors, Francis Jackson Homes, have agreed on another five year period of involvement and we are extremely grateful for their enthusiastic support. We hope all our financial supporters in the Town will follow this lead and continue to help us keep the tradition going in the Town.
Teflon, the makers of non-stick frying pans, have agreed
to sponsor all the runners with a frying pan, and ICe from Fountains Court have agreed to sponsorship money in return for having a treatment and advice tent on the market Place on Pancake Day.
all the Olney schools have agreed to be involved in the children’s races which will be held as usual before the main race on the north side of the market Place.
The shriving service will be held in the Parish Church after the race with the official Olney and Liberal prizes presented. Then in the evening at the Carlton House Club we will have the web link with Liberal to find out the international winner followed by the prize giving to all the runners and the Grand Pancake Prize Draw will be made.

all in all a day not to be missed by young and old alike. Please ladies get your entry forms back in to the Nat West in good time – we are limited to 25 entries. Cash prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd and guaranteed prizes for all runners. We also encourage runners to raise money for their own chosen charity by getting themselves sponsored and we will again make a cash contribution to the runner who raises the most.
