WOLLASTON CARNIVAL
This year's carnival will take place on Saturday 13th June, with the parade leaving from Wollaston Secondary School at 1.30 pm and progressing down Irchester Road, along South Street, Howard Road, Hinwick Road, down London Road and into the Playing Fields. The Carnival will then be officially opened at 2.15 pm by Bernie Keith (and hopefully Riley). This will start the programme of events in the main arena as well as the other events in various parts of the playing field. A special plea to anyone who usually parks a vehicle on the parade route. If you could please leave the route clear between the above hours we would be most grateful, as hold-ups have occurred in previous years with the larger lorries getting stuck.
a stall, buy a draw ticket or just turn up on the day we would be only too pleased to see you. Remember its YOUR CARNIVAL, with many village organisations benefiting, so let’s make it another memorable one.
Would all potential stall holders, please make sure that you book your stall in advance with David Robins who is taking bookings on 01933-663627 and occupy your pitch at the Playing Fields by 12.00 noon to avoid disappointment. Last year we did not have too many problems with parking, but please remember that there is only a limited amount of space and walking may be an easier option? We will also need to marshal the procession ourselves and so are looking for any volunteers to close off the roads or help in the car park, so that all goes smoothly. We have quite a few ‘regulars’ who usual help and these will be contacted again, but if you would like to help, please call the chairman.
The marching band of last year, the Melton Mowbray Toy Soldiers have been booked to appear again, along with the Storm Cheerleading Team, Moulton Morris Men, a performance from Kevin Burke and the St. John Ambulance will be staging an incident, all in the main arena. We also have Alan Martell, a magical entertainer to keep our younger customers happy, with Punch and Judy plus a variety of tricks. Last year’s announcer Kevin Lewis will be making an appearance again, to keep all in touch with what is happening. We are also pleased to announce that this year we have succeeded in obtaining Bernie Keith, who is the morning presenter at Radio Northampton, to do the official opening. We will also have the usual fairground attractions, a dog show and displays, as well as hopefully many stalls from various village organisations. We are all keeping our fingers crossed for a warm and sunny day so all can go ahead as planned.
We would hopefully like to see as many villagers take part in the parade/carnival as possible, last year the response from you all was magnificent and aided by good weather everything went well. If you could enter a float or walk in the parade, man (or woman)
There will be a dog show going on in the small arena and members of the public are invited to bring their pets down to enter for various fun categories – although please bring only well behaved dogs.

In the first year two festivals took place, so the most recent Folk On The Green was the 36th and took place on Sunday June 15th 2008. Folk On The Green is run by and for the people of the historic coaching town, and takes place on Horsefair Green.
