20 Phonebox Magazine | November 2025Season closes for Olney Brass with annual visitSummer wanes as events turn to Christmas for Olney BrassOlney Brass brought their summer season to a close with an annual visit to Emberton Fete. Returning every year for almost four decades, it proved they love a brass band in Emberton. It was the last of a dozen summer engagements, which started back in May when the band played at the Denton VE Day celebrations. The events can be viewed on the band%u2019s website under the Engagements Tab, which also lists upcoming events. %u201cHopefully you have managed to hear us at some point, and we thank you for your continued support,%u201d said spokesperson Keith Underwood. %u201cWhen you read this, you may have already been to our Afternoon at the Movies concert in St Peter and St Paul, on 1st November. %u201cNow you can anticipate the Festive Season and our Melodies and Mince Pies concert which takes place in the church on Saturday, 13th December, 3-5pm. Once again, we will be playing around the streets as the big day approaches.%u201dMore recently the band has moved into its new home at Lovat Fields Residential home, Willen, with a lovely space for rehearsals, meaning all three bands can rehearse in the same hall as well as being able to store equipment.Their long-term goal is to fi nd a rehearsal and storage space with parking in the town that we could call %u2018The Home of Olney Brass%u2019.%u201cWe would love residents to be able to pop in during rehearsals and hopefully be inspired to join our Beginner or Open Bands, or to help complete our line-up in the Senior Band if they are an experienced player,%u201d said Keith.%u201cIf any readers have ideas for this, please get in touch. Use our website for updates and information. We have recently added an archive feature, and although this only starts in the 1970s as Stantonbury Brass, it is hoped that we can eventually add details of Olney Silver Band.%u201dBRASSERIEFor enquiries or to book, call us on 01234 713925 | Email: info@courtyardbrasserie.comFind us at The Courtyard Brasserie, 8/9 Rose Court, Olney WWW.COURTYARDBRASSERIE.COM DAYTIMES AT THE COURTYARDEnjoy all-day English breakfasts, freshly prepared dishes, ciabattas, grills, pastas, homemade pies and cakes, and exceptional coffees.PRIVATE HIRE & EVENTSAvailable for birthdays, anniversaries, dinners and special gatherings.
