The fi nal was even more competitive, going into the last end with an even score, and the outcome eventually hinged on the last bowl being played. Winners: Barbs Thorpe and Mick Richardson. Runners Up: Les Durham & Ed Chatfi eld. Many thanks to Des Smail who sponsored the event and awarded the prizes.The OBC men have been competing in the Bletchley & District League with wins over Wingrave and Woburn Sands and narrow losses to Wolverton Town, Newport Pagnell and Bletchley St Martins, fi nishing 4th in Division 1. The mixed BDL team have had wins over Buckingham West End and Stony Stratford and losses to Wolverton Town and Newport Pagnell, with 1 match left to play. Nigel Porter claimed victory with a 15lb bag of silvers. At the next peg downstream was Neale Shearn, who fi nished in second place with just 1lb less. However, just over a week later, it was Neale who claimed the victory in the Brimley Cup with 18lbs of silvers in a match fi shed at Lavendon Meadows.The Brimley Cup was the fi rst of two evening matches that we were able to add to our match schedule. The second was the Knights%u2019 Shield, which was won by Graham Prince with another double-fi gure bag of silvers. Finally, on the match scene was today%u2019s Les Wallis team of four match. Fished in bright, hot sunshine, Olney Mill outperformed Lavendon Meadows with the top four weights all coming from there. Webster%u2019s Four were the overall team winners with Kevin Osborne fi nishing fi rst individually. On the specimen front, various species have been landed. Barney was back clubbing and this time managed to get his fi rst 6lb fi sh of the season. Meanwhile, on the predator front, young Connor Bazley caught this nice pike, while at the opposite end of the age spectrum, David Partridge caught this perch of over 2lbs.Next month sees our fl agship Ron Bull Open. All our top anglers will be in the seventy peg fi eld, so it should be a great match. See next month%u2019s edition for a full report.
