No sooner have I wished all our readers a happy summer holiday and a break from work and school in the August issue, than I am welcoming you back and looking forward to September and all that it brings. And what a lot that%u2019s shaping up to be. In this month%u2019s issue, there are all kinds of interesting events and gatherings covered. For starters, there%u2019s the Big Olney Food Festival (BOFF), which we preview on page 32. It%u2019s a busy, lively and hugely popular three days of food and entertainment in the heart of Olney, and I%u2019m looking forward to it again this year.%u00a0Talking of great days out, you%u2019ll fi nd a pictorial round-up of some of the brilliant fetes, festivals and fairs that have happened in our region recently, from steam engines to barbecues to live music. It%u2019s all on page 24.And we have good news too, of the roads variety %u2013 the new link route from the A509 down to the M1 motorway, junction 14, is reopening as we go to press. That will be a good and long overdue relief to the people of Olney, Newport Pagnell and the surrounding villages when they can fi nally get straight on to the M1 rather than having to, quite literally, %u2018go round the houses%u2019.%u00a0Local people have not been impressed with the delays in getting this project completed, and there is still work to be done along that route. We have pictures of the road as it nears completion, along with some of the important buildings along that new route, on page 10.%u00a0August saw VJ Day too, and there was a remembrance gathering in Olney (see News Roundup, page 56). And let%u2019s not forget the return to schools for our local children and teenage students (page 55).%u00a0With summer now starting to be a memory, we look forward to autumn, shorter days, darker nights, and all the things we love as we begin the long run-in to the end of the year. But there%u2019s lots to look forward to, so I%u2019m not going to get ahead of myself just yet. Now, where did I put my Christmas jumper?Ron Hall, Editor
