The fi rst reference to cricket being played at Olney is in archive copies of a local newspaper dated 1875. This means that 2025 represents the 150th year that organised cricket has been played in Olney. To mark this milestone, OTCC has put together a week of cricket events, running from Friday 30th May and ending on Sunday 8th June 2025. We aim to involve as many current and former players, members, friends and indeed, sponsors as we can in this series of cricketing and social events. We want to celebrate the Club, its history and its contribution to life in Olney. Starting on Friday, 30th May, the cricket programme for the week will be organised around four activities, namely:%u25cf The Club%u2019s regular competitive cricket calendar during that week, including junior and adult men%u2019s matches and a friendly Women%u2019s XI game on Sunday 8th June.%u25cf A match that will pit an OTCC select XI against a high-quality MCC side on Wednesday 4th June.%u25cf An invitational OTCC Anniversary Cup %u2013 this is a six-team, 20:20 cricket tournament involving two OTCC teams (an under-30s and an over-30s), along with four other local sides (Olney Rugby Club (Vets), Ravenstone, Stoke Goldington, and Clifton Reynes). Semi-fi nal and fi nal matches will be played at the Recreation Ground during the Anniversary week.%u25cf OTCC%u2019s %u201cFresh Start%u201d initiative aims to bring cricket to young children who are new to the game. OTCC will host two introductory cricket sessions (on the afternoons of Thursday and Friday of the Anniversary week) for 180 (yes %u2013 180!) children who attend Olney Middle School. We have lots of social activities taking place during our Anniversary week. Many are linked directly with the cricket events. Two events are worth highlighting, though:%u25cf We%u2019ll again stage our Former Players afternoon, this time to coincide with the MCC match. We hope this will boost spectator numbers and the volume of support OTCC can expect. OLNEY CRICKET CLUBCELEBRATE 150TH ANNIVERSARYLOCAL SPORT ROUNDUP%u25cf We%u2019ve arranged an OTCC 150th Anniversary Gala Ball. Over 200 attendees will come together on Saturday, 7th June, to celebrate OTCC%u2019s 150th milestone. There%u2019ll be food, drink, a band, a disco and, mercifully, almost no speeches. Finally, we will be publishing an OTCC 150th Anniversary Commemorative Programme. This Programme does two things. First, it sets out the many cricket and social activities OTCC has planned for its 150th Anniversary week. Second, it refl ects on the rich history of OTCC. We hope our members fi nd this Programme both informative and entertaining. We have lots to, look forward to so why not come and join us if you get the chance!OTCC 150th Anniversary Cricket Week %u2013 Calendar of on-fi eld ActivitiesFriday 30th May 6pm: ORFC Vets v OTCC Over 30s - Anniversary Cup Pool GameSaturday 31st May 12pm: OTCC Saturday 2nd XI v Kislingbury Temperance 2nd XI %u2013 Northants Cricket LeagueSunday 1st June 10am: OTCC U11s v Ickwell U11s %u2013 Bedfordshire Youth Cricket LeagueSunday 1st June 1.30pm:OTCC Sunday 1st XI v Lutonian 2nd XI %u2013 Bedfordshire Cricket LeagueMonday 2nd June 6pm:OTCC Over 30s v Ravenstone %u2013 Anniversary Cup Pool GameTuesday 3rd June 6pm:OTCC U13s v Biddenham U13s %u2013 Bedfordshire Youth Cricket LeagueWednesday 4th June 11am: TCC v Marylebone Cricket ClubThursday 5th June 6pm:OTCC U15s v Elstow U15s %u2013 Bedfordshire Youth Cricket LeagueFriday 6th June 6pm: Anniversary Cup FinalSaturday 7th June 12pm: OTCC Saturday 1st XI v Old Northamptonians 3rd XI %u2013 Northants Cricket LeagueSunday 8th June 10am:OTCC U11s v Bedford U11s %u2013 Bedfordshire Youth Cricket LeagueSunday 8th June 1pm: OTCC Ladies v Hitchin Ladies
