                                    54 Phonebox Magazine | June 2025LOCAL SPORT ROUNDUP FESTIVAL OF RUGBY FOR CHARITYOn Saturday 10th May, the Club hosted a Festival of Rugby to raise funds for MND and Keech Hospice. In September, ex-player Simon Christian received the diagnosis that he had MND. The Club, rallied by Glyn Dodds, set out to put on this spectacle and raise as much money (and awareness) as we could. The day was a huge success with the games attracting a large crowd of spectators, followed by a sell-out evening event, all helping to the current total of over %u00a330,00 and rising.We look forward to welcoming you to the Club on Saturday 28th June for the annual Olney Rugby 7s tournament %u2013 always a fantastic day of rugby.Tempted to join in? What%u2019s stopping you from being part of the best rugby club in the world?THE COLTSSeems like only yesterday we welcomed everyone back for the start of the season, and what a season it has been, on and off the pitch!The Colts are offi cially the best Colts team in the country %u2013 League Champions, Cup Winners, and National Colts Cup Winners. To win a competition entered by the best hundred and twenty U18 teams in the country is no mean achievement. The game itself was an impressive display of high-tempo rugby. The turnout was terrifi c, with three coach loads of supporters from Olney and many more making the journey by car. The team especially appreciated the volume of vocal support, which resounded around the Sixways Stadium.%u201cThis win is the culmination of many years%u2019 hard work by the players and their coaches. Following all the fl ooding we had last season, I never thought I%u2019d say this, but we need some rain. River levels are really low, and our perennial weed problem is thriving in the nice weather.Memberships are now available. Our preferred method is a digital version via our online service, but for those who need a paper version, these are available from CT Wilson in Olney High Street or Gone Fishin%u2019 in Wolverton.New bridges have been installed on our Harrold section to help and improve access. The car park at the Goosey has had its potholes fi lled, and we are hopeful that all pegs, which have platforms in need of repair, will be fi nished before the season begins.All that remains is for me to wish you the best of luck for Opening Day, and hopefully we can have some quality pictures of some of your catches in next month%u2019s edition.Until then, best of luck to all of our members.
