There will also be selections from Parry%u2019s poignant %u2018Songs of Farewell%u2019 at an evening concert on 8th June at 7.30pm.The Madrigal Group is an auditioned choir of 16 voices, completely student-led and funded. It was founded in 1946 by Evelyn Webb, a student returning to St Andrews, Scotland, after serving with the RAF during the war. It performs regularly in St Andrews and around Scotland and does two tours a year, a summer tour around the UK and a winter tour abroad. In January this year the choir performed four concerts in Vienna. In addition to their concert in Newport Pagnell, on the morning of 8th June, at 10am, the choir will contribute to the worship of the Whit Sunday Eucharist in St Peter & St Paul Church, Olney, the church in which the director of the choir, Michael Chamberlain, learned to sing and play the organ. Michael is the senior organ scholar at St Andrews and is graduating this year to become organ scholar at Portsmouth Cathedral. It is unlikely that this internationally recognised choir will perform in this area again because Michael graduates in a few weeks%u2019 time and the choir will then be under a new director. Michael was keen to bring the choir to his home church during this year%u2019s summer tour because the church is celebrating its 700th anniversary.
