Families, business leaders and bloggers swapped their usual tasty treats for a week of basic provisions to highlight the harsh reality of living in food poverty.Mayor of MK Marie Bradbourne, Milton Keynes City Council, MacIntyre, local business and community leaders took part in the campaign, designed to raise vital funds and highlight the challenges that many families and individuals are facing in the local area. They sacrifi ced everyday snacks, treats, and fresh meals, relying only on 20 essential store cupboard items %u2013 just tinned, dried, or packaged foods. They could also use local community fridges to help with fresh items.Organisers were delighted with the success of the campaign, and the total of %u00a36,281 could increase with some extra offl ine match funding donations still coming through.Poppy Cheetham, Fundraising and Communications Coordinator at the Food Bank, said: %u201cYour support makes a world of diff erence. Thank you for helping us make this winter a little easier for those who need it most.%u201dEstablished in 2004, MK Food Bank originated at MK Christian Centre in Oldbrook as a direct response to growing food poverty in the area.
