she decided to host an evening to raise much needed funds.
Ava fell ill in 1994 with fatigue and exhaustion and a number of other symptoms including joint pain, nausea and sickness. After much time of being told nothing was wrong with her, she continued to go to the doctors and eventually saw a number of specialists who eventually diagnosed her with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Eventually they did a test, without informing her, which they should have, and found out that she was infected with a blood virus Hepatitis C. This strain of Hepatitis was only discovered in 1989 and there was not much information about it – apart from it was a killer!
Many people have found that they have been infected with this blood born virus, some have died before they were diagnosed,

treatment was only successful with some of the genotypes – unfortunately not Ava’s. Therefore she never had any treatment.
She has lived with the virus for the past 35 years (she most likely contracted HCV in her late teens), sometimes it affected her badly and other times she managing it well. She has also been very lucky to have only suffered with mild brosis and moderate liver damage. She has been avidly awaiting some new form of non-interferon based treatment and has been looked after at both the JR Hospital Oxford and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. Around 2011 she was told a new treatment was on its way.
Finally last year she was told it was here and
it would be available to her in 2016! It is a
treatment of only eight weeks (compared to
maybe two years of interferon) andTiRt’Ss-8in77t-a9b9l1e4t6-Milton_Keynes-90x135-from15-family-PRINT-R2.pdf
