I becoming a Grumpy Old Man? Dougall
Is it just me, or am I becoming a grumpy old man? I have to use Station Road from Richmond Way a minimum of four times a day, 6.30am going out, and 7am coming back, then again at 5pm going out, and coming back at approx. 5.45pm. I do this Monday to Friday and sometimes at weekends.
It seems that nearly every time I approach the Station Road traffic lights on green, from either direction, the lights turn to red and I have to wait for a few minutes to get the green. Nine times out of ten, no car comes from the other direction, so whydotheychangeagainstme?Bothsidesofthe lights have sensors, so they know the status of both sides of the lights.
Is there a reason for this crazy sequence? No school children are about and hardly another car that early in the morning.
We are all busy people and I appreciate that it is only a delay of a few minutes in both directions, but surely if the lights are green and there is no reason to change, then they should stay green in my favour! I thought traffic lights were supposed to help the traffic to flow!

The people living in Station Road must get very fed up with the noise of idling engines first thing in the morning, waiting for the green light.
On my early run, I have twice had other frustrated vehicles jump the lights from the opposite direction, when the lights have changed green in my favour. This really does wake you up!
Sorry to be grumpy and thanks for a great magazine.
