                                 MY YEAR IN FOOD
A quick look back at the foodie highlights of 2013
JANUARY: The Maltings, Stoke Goldington
Just recently opened when we visited - a friendly, intimate restaurant with posh pub grub. Photo shows beef stew
FEBRUARY: The Bull, Olney
Amazingly for a Foodie, I only started eating mussels this year. Choose from six sauces including delicious Moroccan.
MARCH: Robinsons Wine Bar
Seriously - two course meal for £3. 1 0. Every Thursday. Soup to start, and on this occasion, a fabulous belly pork.
APRIL: The Bell and Bear, Emberton
I do like a good pie. And these were proper pies, with pastry all the way around. Do hope it is an annual event.
MAY: Break st at Home
A home-cooked breakfast with Amazing Grains bread bought the night before from the pub. Always a special treat.
JUNE: The Three Fyshes, Turvey
A fabulous meal at this restaurant, with a nice summers evening walk to get there. Pictured, confit of duck.
JULY - Sportsman, Whitstable
Probably the foodie highlight of the year Seaside pub with posh, non-pretentious food. Photo: carrot and mozarella salad
AUGUST - Cornish Beef Festival, The Bull
Nothing like a beer festival, but when accompanied with Cornish pasties and home-cooked sausages, it gets better still
SEPTEMBER - Big Olney Food Festival
Too many fabulously lovely things to tempt the taste buds on this buzzing local night. Pictured Paella
OCTOBER - Malt Masterchef, The Bull
A third mention for the Bull, but each one so very different. This time a whisky and food matching session. Photo: venison
NOVEMBER Asha's, Birmingham
A special mention for this superb Indian restaurant in the centre of Birmingham. Spicy battered fish and the best Biriyani ever
DECEMBER- Dickens, Olney
Streetfood, Olney style. A bun too big to get your mouth round packed with turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce, all washed down with mulled wine.
