Schools Out
There are at least eight good reasons why you should put the date of September 1 4th in your diary now.
Prepare to enter exhibits into any of the 1 2 Sections - vegetables, fruit, flowers, cooking and preserves, handicrafts, scarecrows, children 2-4, 5-7, 8-11 and 12-15. (You don't have to be a Lavendon resident to enter).
Tour the village the week prior to the Show and see the scarecrows in the front gardens.
View the scarecrows in the school field opposite the village hall on the day of the Show, to be judged by Olney councillors Debbie Brock and Peter Geary.
Hear the Lavendon schoolchildren perform a mini conce during the Show.
This photo was recently posted on the Olney Noticeboard Facebook page. It depicts Spinney Hill Road at school run time and shows the bus unable to pass through the double parked cars. The post generated 87 comments in total, showing the depth of feeling with local people.
See the Children's Fancy Dress parade (held last year for the first time).
View the exhibits at the Show.
Enjoytea, coffee or asoftdrink and a delicious piece of cake.
Various suggestions were put forward from walking buses to yellow lines, to parent letters and reporting owners to the police. It's a common problem, not just in Olney, but all over the country and whilst 'parking with care and attention' is often muted as the answer,
Win prizes in the raffle and tombola.
Buy some bargain Show exhibits from the stalls, following the Show.
that sometimes just isn't practical given space and time limitations.
Schedules are available in the Village Shop, the Green Man, the Horseshoe and other outlets in and around Lavendon and on line at www. lavendonconnection .co
As one comment said, it's a big issue and needs to be addressed. Well come on people - you're a clever bunch. So what's to be done. A park and ride scheme? Or better, a park and walk scheme. Staggered school start times? Or maybe, as one comment suggested, we could all just go on holiday ..... now there's a thought.
