HISTORIC TRIUMPH SPORTS CAR TO APPEAR AT CAR CLUB PICNIC
An important piece of motoring history will be on display at the Letch- worth Garden City Classic and Vintage Car Club Annual Transport Picnic in June. TS2 is the first right-hand drive production Triumph TR and was completed at Standard Triumph’s Banner Lane, Coven- try, plant on 22nd July 1953. It began the illustrious line of sporting Triumphs that won affection and fame on the road and in competition events.
TS2 was purchased in 1976 by Keith Read, who commenced a full rebuild but unfortunately could not finish the restoration and, in a magnificent gesture, he donated this historic car to the TR Register. The TS2 Trust has been set up by the Register to ensure the car sur- vives and is available for all to see and enjoy for years to come. It is not a museum exhibit and is used as it was intended. To be driven and enjoyed.
Picnic organising committee chairman David Davis said: ‘We are very excited to have such an historic Triumph joining us and are very grateful to the TS2 Trust and our club member Jon Marshall, for or- ganising its appearance.’
