As a result of the generosity of the Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell, and also contributions from other local Rotary Clubs – Milton Keynes, Bletchley, Winslow and Milton Keynes Grand Union – sufficient funds were raised to purchase and present an electric bicycle to Gracie Mae Whitaker. The presentation was made at Roy Pinks’ Cycles of Newport Pagnell to Gracie Mae, who suffers from a serious medical condition which prevents her from riding a normal type of cycle. She now has access to mobility which will make an enormous difference to her life.
After the presentation took place on Saturday morning, we have since learned that a very grateful young lady clocked up 4.6 kms before the day was out. The Rotary Club of Newport Pagnell wishes to thank Roy Pink Cycles for their support. (Picture shows Gracie May Whitaker, family members, and representatives from the various Rotary Clubs.)
The scene was reminiscent of the London Olympics, a huge crowd erupting into rapturous applause as the Newport Pagnell (Rotary Club) Dolphins stripped off and entered the pool. Women swooned as the team of two swimmers revealed their muscular torsos. Competing against other teams of six, Newport Pagnell Rotarians Nigel Benson and Ian Townsend completed 96 laps of the swimming pool in the allocated time of fifty five minutes, raising a creditable amount of £205 for Rotary approved charities.
