News from Tickford Park
FOLLOWInG On FrOM our always successful Men in School Day, this year we also invited ladies to come to tickford Park for the morning. We had a mix of mums, grandmas, aunts and friends all coming in to share their time with us. the ladies all ran an activity, some were art based, painting fossils, making cards and drinking straw hedgehogs to name but a few and some talked about their jobs or interests. the children learned about the daily life as a nurse, played football and made cakes. One mum brought in the new family puppy and talked about training dogs.
We also welcomed Visitors from the World of Work a group of professional people organised through countec. they spoke to the children as part of their Personal, Social and health education curriculum, talking about their work and the skills required to do it. the four speakers talked to revolving groups before taking a question and answer session. We heard from a designer with her own company, an accountant, a building inspector and a manager for nhS Direct. the aim of the event was to help the pupils understand how they can develop skills to make their own contribution to society in the future.

Just Acupuncture
traDItIOnaL acuPuncture IS a gentle healthcare system which has been practiced in china and other far eastern cultures for over 2000 years, as a way of restoring and maintaining good health.
Pain and ill-health are often viewed as signs that the body’s equilibrium is out of balance. this may be due to lifestyle and environmental issues which result in ‘qi’ (your body’s vital energy) becoming disturbed, depleted or blocked.
traditional acupuncture works by correcting any ‘qi’ imbalances through the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body, so as to regulate the flow of ‘qi’. For those who are needle-phobic, acupressure or tui nai (chinese massage) may be used.
It can be effective for a
wide range of conditions because treatment is aimed at the whole person rather than specific symptoms in isolation. Such an approach not only helps to address the cause of your problem but you may notice other niggling problems resolve as your main health complaint improves.
John Laybourn and Michelle Spicer both trained for over three years and have honours degrees in traditional acupuncture. the traditional holistic approach to training provides them with a level of understanding of mainstream western medicine, anatomy and physiology. Both are members of the British acupuncture council.
If you would like to find out more about how acupuncture could help you, free 20 minute consultations are available, without obligation. You can contact John on 07765 946319 or Michelle on 07808 767303.
