RSPCA Week
Monday 2 May to Sunday 8 May 2011
rSPca Week runs from Monday May 2 to Sunday May 8, and is the charity’s main money-raising effort, with dozens of branches nationwide all doing their bit to raise both much-needed cash, and the charity’s profile.
The Tesco charitable Trust kindly supports the Milton Keynes & North Bucks rSPca by allowing them during the week to collect in their Bletchley, Wolverton and Kingston stores. These collections are organised by branch volunteers.
For 2011 the Milton Keynes and North Bucks rSPca would like to try and raise £2,000 but need help to do so. if you would like to help by collecting for a couple of hours in your local Tesco store during rSPca Week 2011, please call 01908 611179 or e-mail cathome@mkrspca.org.uk
rSPca cattery co-ordinator, Vivienne Dalton said: ‘The generous support of Tesco is very much appreciated by everyone at the rSPca. We hope their backing will help us have a very successful week of fund-raising.’
The charity would also love to hear from any other local firms, or individuals, who could help out during the week by organising fund-raising events.
‘rSPca Week is our biggest fund-raiser of the year and so it’s vital we receive as much support as possible as we are a completely self-funding organisation and rely on donations to continue our work.
‘each year we help hundreds of local animals in need or distress and last year alone our vets’ bills came to more than £130,000, so we need all the help we can get.
‘even if people just pick up an extra tin of pet food during their weekly shop and donate it to us, it will make all the difference.
‘i would like to thank everyone who supported us last year. We raised £1,500 in cash donations and over 100 tins and bags of pet food.
‘our local rSPca shops in Newport Pagnell, Stony Stratford and Bletchley will also be collecting cash donations and pet food.’
