FASHION AND FAST CARS RAISE MONEY FOR MACMILLAN
iT WaS an evening of fast cars, fashion and a glass or two of fizz when ladieswear store Woosters teamed with aston Martin dealer Desmond J. Smail to put on a fabulous fashion show in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The car showroom in Olney provided a stunning backdrop for Woosters to showcase this
summer’s fashions, and friends and family of Woosters and Desmond J. Smail gave their time
to model an exciting array of outfits from the season’s new collections.
120 guests enjoyed the show which was rounded off by a raffle drawn by local MP Mark Lancaster. amongst the prizes were Woosters
vouchers and a ride in one of the amazing aston
Martins on show. Other Olney business who
contributed to the evening were florist nic Opoka who provided a
stunning display to welcome guests as they arrived, and kitchen shop aubergine, who kindly donated vouchers for the raffle.
Co-organiser of the event, Lucy abbott said “the evening has been a great success and we raised nearly of £500 for Macmillan”. guest andrea edwards agreed “it’s been a lovely evening and i think we all feel inspired to spring clean our wardrobes and prepare for the summer”.
as guests headed off into the evening, the warmth from an early heatwave was still in the air, giving rise for one guest to comment “ let’s hope this is just the start of a beautiful english summer”. amen to that!

has been affected. They provide an essential service throughout Milton Keynes, including a helpline and drop in sessions. They offer home
visits and counselling sessions at the City Counselling Centre, and they work with schools and other agencies. i feel that whatever money i am able to raise will help to sustain the running of this vital organisation. Through their support and a listening ear, bereaved people can start living again.
Ten% of the raised money will go the ‘MK
Bereaved Parents Group’. This group
meets monthly providing parents with the
support they need to move on from
desperation to the point when they are able
start coping with their daily life again. i feel
enriched and privileged to be able to run
this group. Our outgoings are modest but
we are trying to have a couple of functions each year for parents and their surviving children and also provide relevant literature.
if you can support me, please send a cheque - payable to: ursula ghaleb - to the address below (i opened a specific account for the fundraising).
Thank you very much for your support.

WALKING FESTIVAL LIFTS OFF WITH ROYAL TWIST
BOOTS are Being polished after details were announced for probably the biggest walking event in the Milton Keynes calendar this summer.
and organisers are hoping that a couple of royal connections will add some spice to the extravaganza.
town and its picturesque Ouse Valley that will include previous favourites the Picnic (3 miles), History (6 miles) and the Challenge (15 miles). and an extra route is now being introduced to give the event an added attraction.
History 2 will incorporate some of the most popular parts of the traditional three, but will now stretch to 8 miles with an added ‘spur’ to take in two of newport’s most famous landmarks – spectacular views of the mansions at gayhurst and its near-neighbour Tyringham Hall – both of which have very different royal connections.
gayhurst, already notorious as one of the places where the gunpowder Plotters met to hatch their plan for blowing up parliament and King James i, has recently been upstaged by nearby Tyringham, after photos appeared in the national media showing Prince andrew on a visit there last year.
according to reports, the home of property scion anton Bilton was the scene of a 30th birthday party for Kazakh heiress goga ashkenazi attended by her friend the Prince as guest of honour.
Organisers stress it is definitely not clear whether HrH will himself be joining walkers at this year’s Muster, but there is no doubt the Prince is already strongly familiar with newport Pagnell as a long-time customer and visitor to the local aston Martin works.
Meanwhile, back at the organisers’ office,
Chairman Steve Williams said: “We are hoping for a much bigger turnout this year (our third) because we want as many people as possible to appreciate our gem of a town with all its history and beauty. We also urge walkers to get themselves sponsored in aid of our charity of choice 'Willen Hospice' or another that’s close to their hearts.
“My team will be doing all we can to make Muster day as enjoyable as possible and we encourage everyone to invite friends and family to take part. it’s going to be a great day!”
More details about Muster 2011 plus entry forms and sponsorship pledges can be found over the next few weeks on the website www.newportmuster.org
a publicity campaign will be launched throughout the summer with on-the-day medals for completion and prizes on offer for Largest Team, Fancy Dress and Youngest/Oldest Walkers.
The Muster is endorsed by the councils of Milton Keynes (environment directorate) and newport Pagnell.
