Alopecia & Hair Loss Clinic
Revolutionary hair loss treatment
has arrived in Olney!
Laser Hair Recovery, a non-surgical, non- invasive treatment, together with Minoxidil, stimulates blood flow to the scalp, replenishing hair follicles thus encouraging your hair to regrow.
ALOPECIA
The word Alopecia actually means ‘hair loss’ and there are several types of alopecia. The most common of these is known as ‘androgenetic alopecia’ otherwise known as male or female pattern baldness. While men typically suffer pattern baldness with receding hairlines and bald spots on the crown of the head, women typically experience generalized thinning over the entire top of the head.
Autoimmune disorders such as Alopecia Areata / Totalis or Universalis, occur when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks itself and more commonly, the deepest part of the hair follicle resulting in temporary hair loss.
This can vary from patchy hair loss over any area of the scalp – alopecia areata, to loss of all scalp hair – alopecia totalis, or even loss of
all scalp and body hair, including eyebrows and eyelashes – alopecia universalis.
TREATMENTS Laser Hair Recovery
We are one of the few clinics in the country that can offer Laser Hair Recovery. This treatment is approved by the US Food and Drug Administration, is 100 % safe and is ideal for both men and women. A 60-minute treatment every fortnight for the first six months, with a monthly follow-up for 6 months thereafter, has proven hair regrowth for 80 % of clients.
Therapeutic red light stimulates blood supply to the hair bulb and scalp, increasing the number of red blood cells that deliver vital oxygen and nutrients. This activity breaks down the collection of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) the hormone responsible for hair loss, thus encouraging healthy hair follicles into regrowth.
Laser light does not generate heat; it does not burn the veins or hurt the skin and it works on all areas of the scalp: front, top, back and sides. Unlike hair transplantation, Laser Hair Recovery doesn’t carry any surgical risks with patients still being able to keep their own hair.
Minoxidil
Minoxidil started out as a drug to help reduce high blood pressure, however, physicians discovered it had one strange side effect: hair growth. Approved also by the US Food and Drug Administration, in lotion form, this can be applied topically to the affected areas of the scalp and this also helps prevent the formation of DHT and promotes hair follicles into regrowth. Used in conjunction with the Laser, greatly increases the chances of success.
Medical Tattooing
Using our advanced techniques, medical tattooing can be used to help camouflage or simulate scalp hair, which makes bald areas less noticeable and sufferers less conscious of their condition. This procedure does not harm hair follicles and does not impede hair growth.
Hair Loss not only affects the way we look but also the way we feel about ourselves, with many sufferers experiencing lost self confidence and low self esteem.
