Things are changing at
The Olney Duck and Raft Race 2011
HoPEfully SoME of you by now will have thought about getting a team together to enter the Raft Race on Sunday 26th June. The olney Runners have declared that this year they may even enter three teams! – are they trying to win by sheer weight of numbers? The Hollow Wood Surfers will be back to defend their course record, which the Runners have vowed to take.
The Duck Race will start at 1pm and the Raft Race at 1.45pm from the weir in Emberton Park. The1st olney Scout Group will be selling tickets for the Duck Race from the beginning of June and on the day. fantastic prizes for the first 4 ducks past the finishing post or should I say under the bridge!
At the Raft Race finish line on the East St. playing fields, the entertainment and stalls will open at 1.30pm. Here there will a touch of the Caribbean with the MK friends of the Caribbean providing food, music and limbo dancing competitions for all ages. The MK Guide Dogs for the Blind will be bringing guide dog puppies that are in training, and working dogs with their owners for you to stroke (the dogs, not the owners)!
The other big news is that “olney’s Got Balls” will be joining in at the race finish. Many of the local ball based sporting clubs will be running competitions like beat the goal keeper and traditional bowls. All these events are linked to the local awareness campaign for testicular cancer led by our very own PCSo Chris Ward – hence the slogan – “olney’s Got Balls”.
If there are any more local groups who might like to get involved – maybe have a stall promoting your group or a local business that wants to set up a trade tent please contact ToG. If you don’t want to have a tent or a stall why not enter a raft – great publicity and great fun!
looking forward to seeing you all there. Neill Elliott, ToG chairman

PROCEEDS FROM LENT LUNCHES 2011
I am happy to announce the total profit to Christian Aid this year is
£1324.96.
Many thanks to those who contributed homemade soup and to all who gave their time during the last 6 weeks to help achieve this excellent result. There was a great community spirit and it was pleasing to see people enjoying the social occasion. We had abundant offers of help from the churches of Newport Pagnell and also from people not connected to the churches.
Thanks also to everyone who came along, spent their money and supported us. We rely on you.
