CHILDREN FROM OLNEY Middle school have worked in partnership with local Police Community Support Officers to find out about how people feel about living in the local area.
Members of OMS school council have been thoroughly trained in using personal digital assistants (PDAs) to conduct surveys. They were invited by PCSO Lewington to take part in the ‘Have your Say’ event in

the market place on Thursday 14th October. Supervised by a member of staff, they asked members of the public about how they feel about the local area. The children really enjoyed the event and it was a great success. Many thanks to the Police Community Support Officers for inviting the children to take part in the event. We would also like to thank all the members of the public that so generously gave their time.
ANYONE DRIVING THROUGH Newport Pagnell on the first Saturday in early October will have seen several Newport Rotarians with help from Town Mayor Ian Carman and members of the Newport Pagnell Partnership plant around 3,000 bulbs at the town’s Fire Station as part of Rotary’s ‘Focus on the Crocus’ campaign.
Focus on the Crocus is an
opportunity to be part of a historic
worldwide campaign, spearheaded by Rotary International, to finally eradicate Polio across the world. Rotary in Great Britain and Ireland (RIBI) is working with The Eden Project, the International Flower Bulb Centre (IBC), the National Trust and Learning through
Landscapes to plant purple crocus bulbs so they will be in flower for Rotary Day – 23 February 2011.
The Ruby Giant ‘purple' crocus represents the dye colour dabbed on children's little fingers to indicate they have been immunised against polio in the few remaining parts of the globe since Rotary International commenced its campaign in 1985.
