needed to support
new parents!
Looking after a new baby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week isn’t always easy, and having someone to talk to for support or advice can be a real lifeline.
The National Childbirth Trust (NCT) charity helps new parents meet each other at groups like ‘Bumps and Beyond’ - held every Monday morning from 10-11.30am in the Olney Centre. Come along for a cuppa and a chat!
Nationally, the NCT also runs a postnatal helpline to provide support and advice in the early days. The helpline is run by qualified NCT
postnatal leaders who help parents by advising on everything from lack of sleep and weaning to managing family relationships. They can also offer a listening ear for times when being a new parent can just seem overwhelming.
The charity now wants to support more new parents by extending the opening hours of this advice line. To raise money the charity’s biggest fundraising event of the year will take place this summer – the ‘Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party’ - with over 400 parties taking place around the UK. With just £50 they can help 10 new parents cope with the challenge of becoming a parent through the helpline.
NCT Olney branch will hold their Cheeky Monkeys Tea Party on Saturday
10th July at the Olney Centre from 10.30am until 2.30pm. There’ll be lots of activities for babies and children including messy play, arts and crafts, music by Jo Jingles, face painting and Mini Strikers.
