OUR MONTHLY MEETING for March saw members watching local artist Eric Elsley talking to us about the different medias of painting. He then proceeded to paint a landscape picture for us pointing out useful tips along the way and also answered members questions as he went along. The finished painting was given to us to put into one of our raffles.
We hold our meetings on the first monday of the month (bank holiday months 2nd Monday) and welcome visitors. Our programme for 2010- 11 will be available in May. All meetings are held in the village hall.
The weekend of 27/28 February and it was time for our yearly Auction. Saturday saw us getting the hall ready and booking all the lots in. Then on Sunday saw the auction under way and the hall full of people bidding for items. There was also refeshments available, sandwiches, pasties and homemade cakes for sale, as well as tea and coffee.
Everybody pitches in and helps and has a very enjoyable day.
I would just like to say a big thank you to all who put items into the auction, because without them there wouldn't be one and to all those who gave up their weekend to help.
Next years auction will be held on 27 February.
New Local Wargaming Club
A NEW CLUB has been set up locally for those who are interested in wargaming. Cranfield Conquerors meet every Monday evening in the Cranfield Campus Social Club to play a variety of sci-fi and fantasy Wargames, as well as the occasional board game. Warhammer 40,000 is the most popular game, but we also play a wide variety of other games (including Epic, Blood Bowl, Malifaux, Warhammer Fantasy, AT-43, etc.).
Wargaming allows 2 players (or sometimes more) to pitch their strategic and tactical skills against each other using miniature figures and vehicles. Rules and figures are available to suit a wide range of interests.
If you are a current player,
a lapsed player, or just interested, please pop along any Monday evening from 6.30pm. We will also be present at Campaign, a wargaming show held in Middleton Hall, Milton Keynes on 8/9th May. For more details contact David Brown on 01234 714153.

Their Second Childhood: a book by Geoff Bacchus
Geoff’s writing competes with many of his other activities and as those of us who know him he gets himself into
all manner of troubles and difficulties. At least
when he is writing though, it keeps him off the
