Book Week at Stoke Goldington and North Crawley C of E School
BOOK WEEK saw the staff and children of both Stoke Goldington and North Crawley C of E School gather together for a fun packed day led by the illustrator of ‘The Snow Dragon’ and ‘A Chair for Baby Bear’ Mr Chris Fisher. Chris had travelled from Bristol to share his drawings and expertise with the children and give them some guidance on illustrating their own books which they had been writing the previous day.
Chris asked the children to help him develop a drawing. The children had to tell a story as he drew, the story started with a mouse who was eating cheese standing on top of a rather long suffering cat with his chin resting in his paws! The ideas developed with a number of animals balancing on top of each other and culminated with a bear tight rope walking over a washing line underneath which was a dog, another character from one of Chris’s books, hanging on to the washing line with outstretched paws! Chris drew with ease and each animal had its own expression.

Chris finished the day by reading a story that he himself had written, it was his first book as an author and he wanted the children’s feedback! The story was about the games that Chris and his brother used to play and their imagination. We all agreed that it was a super tale and we would all buy it when it was published!

We have recently welcomed Emily and after the holidays Tom and Thomas arrive to join in the fun. The children have made cards for Mothers Day and have been extending their ICT skills by linking the laptop to the printer so that they can print off their work.
