Dear Editor
One again, the area around Johnson’s Field has suffered with yet another outbreak of weekend vandalism (how many times has this been mentioned before in this magazine). The weekend before last, three households suffered damage to their fence panels and this Sunday night (3 May), the alley leading from Rivetts Close to Johnson’s Field was littered with broken beer bottles and furthermore the children’s swing by the school was damaged beyond use by fire. Given that the police seem to treat this area as a police “no go” area, is it about time vigilante groups were formed by angry local residents to protect their environment? This is a subject that a few local residents have mentioned to me. Peter Gage
Dear Editor
Would the person or persons who exercise their dog/dogs in Spring Lane, Olney, please take the excrement away with them. I am tired of treading this into my home.
I can only put this lack of thought down to ignorance.

Cllr Potts response to my April letter was disappointing.
He failed to adequately address either of my two objections concerning the Lib-Dems
local newsletter Focus.
First, to use local election results to predict the outcome of a parliamentary election is a slight of hand that would never be used by an accredited polling organisation. It’s simply a fact that many people change their voting preferences from local to national elections. This has long been a big problem for the Lib-Dems who have been unable to translate local success into national results. Cllr Potts claims I failed to mention “very different boundaries”. Not so. Line 10 of my letter reads “boundary changes actually favour Labour”, the source of my information? From the Lib-Dems own national website; they have calculated that the impact of these boundary changes would in fact have given Labour a “notional” victory at the last election.
Please don’t take my word for it, check it out: http://www.libdems.org.uk/people/jill-hope
The truth is that neither Cllr Potts nor I know what will happen at the next general election. My objection is that to state “it’s between Lib Dems and Cons. No other result is possible” is a dishonest spin designed to hoodwink Labour voters into voting Lib Dem.
Secondly, I objected to what I see as a sham protest against road pricing, which I think was no more than a stage-managed picture event. Cllr Potts, himself a participant, avoids this question completely by alleging that I have been e-mailed a letter of explanation from Jill Hope (Lib Dem perspective parliamentary candidate). I have not received any e-mail from Jill Hope. To clear this up I would ask Cllr Potts to forward this letter to me, copying the Phonebox to get this into the public arena.
My questions remain when, where and who else was involved in this so-called protest?
Yes, to honest campaigning. No, to spin!
Best regards
