Under 7 Olney RFC
On a sunny but chilly day 12 Under 7 Olney RFC players travelled to Richmond College in London to play in the ‘Battle of the Capitals’ tournament. Two pool matches were played.
Match 1 Olney vs Phoenix
OLNEY WIN 5 - 1: tries from Joseph Brock (3), Owen Davies and Albert Lindley.
Match 2 Olney vs Colfeians
OLNEY WIN 3 - 1: tries from Thomas Brooks, Joseph Brock and Owen Davies
We won our group and qualified for the knockout stages.
Quarter Final Olney vs Jersey
OLNEY WIN 4 - 3: tries from Thomas Brooks (2), Harry Thomas & Joseph Brock.
Semi Final Olney vs Wimbeldon
OLNEY WIN 7 - 3: tries from Harry Thomas (2), Owen Davies (2), Oliver Betteridge, Albert Lindley and Joseph Brock.
We qualified for the FINAL which was played on the hallowed turf of TWICKENHAM. This was more of an exhibition match and unfortunately although the boys played their hearts out we lost 3 - 2 to Ealing. The two lucky boys to say they scored a try at Twickenham were Thomas Brooks and Albert Lindley.
Overall the boys all played magnificantly throughout the day. A special mention must go to Oliver Betteridge whose tagging was amazing. Well done boys!!
Green Park School of Newport Pagnell made it through to the final of the football Community Cup which was played at The MK Dons Stadium after the Dons v Oldham match.
Green Park won by one goal and now play the southern region finals at Swindon’s ground. If they succeed there, they will get to play on Wembley’s hallowed turf!
Thanks go to Nigel Adams of Ad Valorium Chartered Accountants who kindly sponsored the new football kit for the school. The boys loved every minute of the day and to look so smart really boosted their enthusiasm.
