shed on that field and suggested that the groundsmen could cut back the thicket nearby to make the area more visible. He also felt that the main gate to the field could be locked when the pitches were not in use. He concluded by saying that he had no objection to young people meeting in the area, but did object to the rubbish and particularly the broken glass left behind.
Della Cheal noted that the absence of regular complaints from the Sports Clubs should not be taken to mean that having to clear rubbish from the playing surfaces was unusual. Instead, it has become so common that the Clubs see no point in complaining about it.
A quick Google search for “broken glass” “football pitch” shows that this problem is far from unique to Olney.

For information, TOG is a local voluntary group which organises events such as the Raft Race on Sunday 28th June, Fireworks Night and Santa’s Grotto at Christmas.
The next meeting will be held at 7.30pm on Monday 11th May in the Council Chamber in The Olney Centre. Members of the public are always welcome to attend and, if they wish, speak at the start of the meeting, or at any point that the mayor decides is appropriate.
This year’s Annual Town Meeting will take place in the Olney Centre on Friday 8th May at 7.30 pm.

Emberton Park
Steve Clark had attended a meeting of the Park Liaison User Group (PLUG). He noted that the scheme for prohibiting the entry of unauthorised vehicles after dusk was now in place. He also noted that the ageing exit ramp system was due to be replaced with a new model. Finally he reported that the park has an ongoing programme to update the static caravans with newer models and, with these tending to be larger, their pitches may need to be redrawn in the future.
Allotment Field rubbish
Tony Evans reported that there’d been 40 – 50 young people on the Allotment Field one recent Saturday afternoon and that they’d left a good deal of rubbish and broken glass behind. He felt that the main place they gathered was behind Olney Town Colts’
