Olney 7’s Tournament
In response to the picture feature in the Phonebox Magazine August issue, highlighting the remains of a Pig Roast, the Rugby Club would like to offer the town our sincere apologies. We used outside contractors to provide the hog roast, who unfortunately did not clear up on the night of the 7’s Tournament. However, once members of the committee were aware of the situation they made sure that it was cleared immediately. Had “name withheld” given us the courtesy of speaking to a member committee we could have dealt with the remains of the pig a lot sooner.
This was a small blight on what otherwise had been a very successful day for both the club and the town. Not only was the rugby good, there was fabulous entertainment for the100s of families who attended the event. People travelled from all over the country attracting many new visitors to the town, many of who did not only enjoy the rugby but also went from the recreation ground to visit the rest of the town.
Anglian TV, also covered the tournament further raising the profile of the town.
We were equally disappointed that the remains of the pig roast weren’t cleared away when they should have been but this should not detract from the hard work and very good contribution that members of the Rugby Club make to Olney.
