Dear Editor
Anti-social Behaviour
Although the football season ended in May preparation for the forthcoming season begins almost instantly as the Committee and volunteers tackle a whole host of jobs to ensure that we keep our club in great condition as well as ensuring that we provide first-class facilities for all our teams (mens, ladies and colts) as well as our visitors.
However, it would appear that the youth of Olney and surrounding villages are intent on spoiling our facilities with their latest round of late night drinking and everything else that they get up to. The football club stand has once again fallen victim to late night anti- social behaviour and we are now faced with a massive clean up every Saturday morning – I might add that this clean up is not for the feint hearted!
A recent Saturday morning saw the stand in an appalling condition, not content with broken bottles and the usual litter (ironically we had asked the Council in May to provide
a litter bin which was duly installed but clearly the youths do not know what such an item is for – they constantly empty out all the contents across East Street – we were faced with a stand that had been used as a public toilet, clear signs of drug abuse, vomit and condoms liberally scattered across the stand.
As usual we put it right but it was not a pleasant experience for anyone.
We try our very best to ensure that we maintain a great facility for the town but quite frankly we are now pretty fed up with this constant display of anti-social behaviour. We can and will keep reporting such incidents but this issue will not go away until the residents of Olney take responsibility for their children – checking where they are and what they are doing? Under-age drinking is a
massive problem in the town and the use of drugs is becoming more prevalent. Yes, Olney is a great town but please do not continually blame youths from out of town for this problem – the youths responsible for this anti-social behaviour live in the town!
Please help us to maintain this great facility!
