Museum Matters
The Friends of the Museum are pleased to
report that their annual Grand Christmas Raffle
drawn at the Museum just before Christmas raised a
four figure sum. Grateful thanks are due to all who supported the Draw, from Marcus Jordan the official sponsor; to local businesses and individuals like Steve Stephenson, William Lowden, Donzella, Cox & Robinson and MK Dons who generously donated prizes; and to all who bought tickets as well as to the hardy volunteers who sold tickets on market days and got soaked doing so at Dickens of a Christmas. The winners were notified and the prizes distributed before Christmas.
During the closed season it is hoped that the reorganisation of the Museum under the professional guidance of Paul Baker will be completed in time for the new season beginning on March 1st. Sadly, by then, Paul will be moving on to other projects and Friends and Trustees alike will be loathe to see him go. However, visitors to the Museum will reap the benefit of Paul’s labours with the collections displayed to much better effect. If you have not visited the Museum in recent times why not make it a resolution to do so this year and see for yourselves the improvements that have been made to what has been described as ‘Olney’s best kept secret’. (And for those of you who enjoy gardens May and June are usually particularly good months to see the grounds at their best and appreciate the ‘oasis of calm’ in the centre of Olney.) We look forward to seeing you.
